The book was created to take part in the discussion around climate change, pollution, energy, and other themes around ecology. Regarding the debates that are taking place in social media, I noticed the need for reliable knowledge in the field that environmental engineering is addressing. I came up with an idea to create a book to fill this gap. I had an opportunity to cooperate with the Institute of Environmental Engineering of the University of Zielona Góra to implement that idea.

I worked out the concept of the book. Then the professors from the Institute wrote the articles for this book raising different subjects. The texts have been writtem in semi-scientific language, which makes them accessible and understandable for young people, who are the main target of the book.

In between them, there are spreads with tips written by me, which highlight simple changes to everyday life,
that can help the planet.

I illustrated with digital collages, which picture some of the topics discussed in the articles. In illustrations I used pictures from private archives as well as from Unsplash. Pitures of existing objects and landscapesare making the discussed problems more relatable for the viewer.

When designing this book, from the very beginning, I focused on ensuring that as an object, it also fulfills the values conveyed by its content. I chose technologies and materials that harm the environment as little as possible. The book is printed on Munken paper and bound in ecological Remake, which contains admixtures of leather waste. Mock-ups made for defense and presented in the photos were handmade by myself. There are six variations of the cover. Finally for the printed edition only one was chosen.
